A friend told me a story about a writer who started a letter by saying:
“Sorry, I didn’t have the time to write you a SHORTER letter.”
Writing with intention allows us to express our true thoughts, feelings, and intentions, which fosters deeper understanding and stronger relationships. A letter that is thoughtful and genuine can have a lasting impact, whereas writing without purpose can often feel hollow or disconnected and often layered with words. By being mindful of the content, we ensure that what we communicate is not only received but also felt and appreciated. It’s the quality of the message, not the quantity, that truly matters.
Life is incredibly short, often passing by faster than we realize. We get caught up in the daily grind—work, chores, routines—and before we know it, time slips away. But the truth is, these normal, repetitive tasks are not what truly make life meaningful. It’s the moments spent with loved ones, pursuing passions, embracing experiences, and making memories that define the richness of our existence.
We often push aside what really matters—our relationships, our health, our dreams—in favour of maintaining the status quo. But the more we focus on just getting through the day, the more we risk missing out on the things that bring joy and fulfilment. We may wait for a “perfect” moment to change things, but the truth is, there’s no time like the present to start prioritizing what truly counts.
To live fully means embracing what matters most: investing time in the people who bring us happiness, nurturing our personal growth, and seeking out those experiences that inspire us. Life will never slow down on its own, so it’s up to us to make space for the things that are worth it.
Enjoy your Festive season with loved ones, live life intentionally, be in the moment and take the time to write that short letter!
